Google stands alone in its focus on developing the "perfect search engine," defined by co-founder Larry Page as something that, "understands exactly what you mean and gives you back exactly what you want."
In other words, Google wants to match a user's search with content that answers their questions.
What does this mean for you? It means that to help do better in the search engines, you have to provide the engines with better text and more of it. My experience says about 300 - 400 words is an acceptable amount of text on each page.
